Pac-n-Zoom® Color is primarily a tool that reduces the amount of noise
in an image by using two methods.
|
-
Color Segmentation: All dots must go somewhere, but in
noisy data its not so easy to tell. For example, if you are
looking at an animal in the forest you need to tell which dots
belong to the animal verses which dots belong to the forest, or
the animal will be camouflaged by the forest. Pac-n-Zoom Color
places all the dots where they are supposed to go.
-
Shape Grouping: Even when the dots are correctly placed, a
significant amount of residual noise is likely to remain in the
image. For example, if I had a page full of identical 'e's on my
word processor, and I printed them out and FAXed them to you, by
the time you received the FAX, every 'e' would be different. Shape
grouping will make all the 'e's the same, and a perfect 'e' can be
substituted to return the page that has hardly any noise. Shape
grouping works on all shapes (not just text).
