To test this proposal, we used a
word processor to create a five
color document. We printed it out
on a color laser printer to good
quality paper. Then we scanned it
in. The resulting image had about
250,000 colors, but with image
restoration, human-like
segmentation, and acceptable
tolerances, we were able to bring
the image back to something that
was pretty close to what we had on
the word processor.
The results are shown below in
*.png pictures. We have provided
some other common techniques as a
comparison.
